The Phenomenal excitement, success and popularity of the National Basketball Association (NBA) has spread like wildfire across the Asian region. And now the Asian Basketball Association (ABA) will promoting and developing men's professional basketball throughout Asia. Indeed, the ABA will constitute the highest standard of basketball in Asia.

Over the past two decades Asian basketball teams have lagged behind their European and American counterparts because of the lack of regular competitions and regional championship matches. The ABA offers a new future for Asian basketball by providing opportunities for Asian teams to compete against one another in a league format so as to better world-class status.

The ABA was sanctioned in 1992 exclusively by the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC), the official basketball body comprising the national interests of 40 Asian countries/territories, to establish an annual men's professional basketball league in Asia.
